Saxo Bank acquires a software provider; to step up platforms development

Saxo Bank announced that it has acquired a 40% stake in Initto, an IT services provider with offices in India

Saxo Bank announced that it has acquired a 40% stake in Initto, an IT services provider with offices in India and Ukraine to speed up the development of its trading systems.

I guess this means that Saxo Bank is finally stepping up its software development pace. Saxo’s platform hasn’t really changed much in the past few years while all other brokers invested millions in order to improve their platforms and offer better service to the clients as well as its own execution, latency etc.

Saxo recently also picked up the race in geographical expansion opening offices in Dubai, Eastern Europe and acquiring a Japanese label.

On the other hand Saxo abruptly abandoned TradeCommander – its algorithmic trading platform which is a big blow to this rapidly growing segment of the retail Forex market.  FXCM immediately took initiative in order to fill this gap. Perhaps this vertical acquisition means that Saxo would like to get back to offering algo trading solutions to its clients and partners. Time will tell.

Rest of the announcement:

Saxo Bank, the online specialist in trading and investment, has announced the acquisition of a 40% stake in Initto, the Danish owned software and IT services provider. Initto has around 200 employees based mainly in India and Ukraine and the acquisition of Initto will enable Saxo Bank to continue to support and speed up the development of its trading systems.

Designed to meet the varying needs and demands of financial investors and traders, Saxo Bank has developed four specialised and integrated trading platforms; the downloadable SaxoTrader, browser-based SaxoWebTrader, compact SaxoMiniTrader and phone-based SaxoMobileTrader.
