EuroCCP, a clearinghouse based in Europe, has secured a new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) - David Hatton, the company announced this Tuesday. He will be taking over from Albert-Jan Huizing, who will be stepping down from his position at the end of June.

Hatton has some big shoes to fill, as Huizing has worked with the Clearing House since its establishment in 2007. Taking a look at his resume, however, it appears that Hatton is more than up to the task as he brings more than 25 years of experience with technology in the financial services industry.

At EuroCCP, Hatton will be in charge of setting the clearinghouse’s IT strategy and managing the IT function in terms of infrastructure, application development, and support. As the CTO of EuroCCP, he will report directly to Cécile Nagel, the Chief Executive Officer of the company.

While here, he was the Product Owner for the Foreign Exchange (Forex ) Option Migration Project. Hatton’s most recent stint at the German bank was not his first. In fact, he has previously worked with the firm from July 2002 until August of 2005, and again from 2009 - 2010.

Prior to his most recent tenure with the German company, Hatton was at LCH, joining in 2011. During his time with the clearinghouse, he helped build and launch its FX clearing service - ForexClear.

Hatton will join the clearinghouse as its CTO on the 20th of May 2019. According to the statement, this is to allow enough time for handover and a smooth transition.

Paying tribute to Huizing, Nagel added: “He has been integral to the development and success of EuroCCP since it was launched more than 10 years ago, helping turn the business into one of Europe’s leading market infrastructures. His contribution and counsel will be missed.”
