London-listed IG Group (LON: IGG) has inked a high-profile sports sponsorship deal as it has become the official partner of Cricket in England.

Per the announcement on Wednesday, the broker has signed a three-year deal with the England and Wales Cricket Board, and, under the terms, the IG logo will be imprinted on the sleeves of the national cricket team of England for both men and women.

The teams will wear the shirts with the IG logo in all three formats of the game.

Matt Macklin, IG’s UK Head, commented: “Watching the recent accomplishments of the England teams, we have been struck by the clarity of strategic thinking and quality of Execution , and how this aligns with IG’s ethos as a business.”

“We also share the ECB’s innate drive to keep improving and evolving, achieving new levels of success while having a positive impact on the world around us. We are hugely proud to be partnering with such a prestigious institution and cannot wait to get started.”

Sports Sponsorships Is Always Prefered

Cricket is followed by a wide domestic and international fan base. IG highlighted that the partnership will help it build brand awareness and promote a range of investment products.

“IG is an ambitious organization which shares our commitment to be the best by maintaining high standards and developing a strong partnership,” said Tony Singh, Chief Commercial Officer at ECB. “Those values have been central to the success of our England teams, making this relationship a natural fit. We look forward to working alongside IG over the coming years.”

Though sports club sponsorships are common within the trading industry, sponsoring the national team is still rare. Earlier, eToro signed a deal with Rugby Australia to sponsor the team for three years.

Most recently, Forex and CFDs broker FBS signed a multi-year deal with English football club, Leicester City.
