HSBC has just named Andy Grisdale as its Chief of Staff, Commercial Banking for Asia-Pacific (APAC) ), succeeding Sanjay Prakash, who was recently named Head of International, Commercial Banking at HSBC.

HSBC is a worldwide financial services provider, with an established presence in a variety of locales and regions. With several leading financial institutions restructuring their divisions or personnel in light of decreasing revenues, HSBC has opted for a shakeup at its Commercial Banking division in the APAC region.

Grisdale Placed in Key Role to Develop APAC Business

Mr. Grisdale is tasked with serving as the newest Chief of Staff, Commercial Banking, responsible for the fostering of key initiatives across the commercial banking sector – these include the development of Risk Management and operations, product governance and distribution.

In his new role, Mr. Grisdale will be reporting to Noel Quinn, Group General Manager and Regional Head of Commercial Banking, APAC, along with John Casey, Global Chief of Staff, Commercial Banking at HSBC.

According to Mr. Quinn in a recent statement on the appointment, “As one of the most fast-paced, dynamic regions in the world, Asia-Pacific is a key area of growth for the Bank. With a presence in 19 markets across the region, our unrivaled international network and focus on investing in growth positions us as a leading bank for international businesses. Andy brings with him a wealth of corporate banking expertise that will enable us to tap into the region’s wealth and, ultimately, enable our clients to benefit from opportunities across the world.”

Mr. Grisdale has been a mainstay at HSBC since 1984, when he joined the bank – prior to HSBC he held a senior post as the Head of Commercial Banking in Malaysia.
