AMF Updates List of Binary Options Providers Not Authorized in France, Names 79 websites

The Autorité des Marchés Financiers has warned of seventy nine binary options websites that it deemed to have not yet

AMFFrance’s financial market regulator, the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF), has once again warned retail investors against aggressive internet advertising campaigns for binary options trading -which claim to offer very high yields in very short periods of time. The warning comes as the list of providers was updated to include binary options websites that AMF deemed unauthorized to provide investment services in France.

The AMF said the list cancels and supersedes the previous one published on April 24, 2014, and how these websites may change very quickly and that this list is not exhaustive. AMF added how any unauthorised intermediaries, such as those on the list, run the risk of criminal sanctions. The list was dated May 22, 2014, and coincides with the similar news from two Canadian regulatory agencies -about specific binary options providers, that Forex Magnates covered yesterday.

The regulator added that its residents should check any financial intermediary offering or from recommending such investments, making sure it is registered on the list of financial institutions authorised to do business in France by checking, and if the intermediary in question is not on these lists, AMF strongly recommended residents not to respond to their offers.

Last time Forex Magnates wrote about the AMF issuing an updated list warning of binary options brokers was in January, when the total number of sites were sixty-nine, hence that figure has since increased to seventy-nine.

The AMF has also issued a similar warning for a list of Forex brokers, also covered by Forex Magnates in January, and most recently updated that list at the start of May, showing  that it also grew by five websites to a total of thirty now on that warning list.
