OANDA Goes 3D – Partners with FinGraphs

OANDA has announced that it has partnered with FinGraphs, a provider of technical analysis tools for the financial markets. Under terms of the deal, FinGraphs will be providing an integrated solution of its “Markets in 3D” charts on OANDA’s fxTradeNOW platform. The product will be provided to OANDA customers on a monthly subscription model. The partnership is part of OANDA’s new third party partnership model.

While still not publicly announced by OANDA, as reported from the Forex Magantes London Summit, the broker has embarked on the creation of a third party partners' program. Spearheaded by the OANDA’s purchase of Currensee, OANDA has begun to work with outside developers on the creation of an ‘open’ third party product marketplace that connects with their platforms. For OANDA, the launch of an open environment is a shift from the broker’s initial model of sticking with in-house development. The broker is continuing to keep internal development of products in-house, but will now be working with third parties to connect their systems to OANDA’s platforms. With the broker now publicly stating its goal as an IPO, the third party marketplace provides a possible additional revenue stream for the firm.

In terms of the current FinGraphs' product, among features of the analysis tool is that it aims to provide traders with a visual representation of oversold and overbought assets, with potential price target. As seen below, the tools are similar in appearance to those from Autochartist and TradingCentral, but with a greater focus on the visual experience.

Commenting on the partnership, George Nassar, Product Management, OANDA Corporation stated in the broker’s public release that, “Trading Forex is difficult and there are many risks. An automated technical analysis solution such as FinGraphs for OANDA assists investors by providing them with an important tool that will help them identify emerging trends. This solution offers OANDA’s trading clients an integrated, scalable, and adaptable way to stay atop the volatile forex market.”

Jean-François Owczarczak, Director of Management Joint Trust SA, the Switzerland-based firm that launched FinGraphs added, “We are proud and excited to partner with an award-winning Forex Broker like OANDA and to see our FinGraphs' instrument offered to OANDA’s clients. The FinGraphs for OANDA solution deploys an automated methodology that will provide investors with a unique decision-making tool.”
