ChangeTip, the “Love Button for the Internet”, now lets its users redirect tips received to BitGive.
BitGive is a bitcoin-based charity which last year obtained 501(c)(3) status from the IRS as a tax-exempt nonprofit organization.

The stated rationale was to cater to ChangeTip users who prefer not to hold on to tips received due to social or employment considerations. The Tip Redirection feature will allow them to forward tips to the charity of their choice. BitGive was the first of several planned for addition.
BitGive and ChangeTip share a similar goal when it comes to leveraging cryptocurrency to make giving easier. Victoria van Eyk, ChangeTip’s Head of Community Development, explained, “The two best use cases for Bitcoin are micropayments and charitable giving, because of low transaction fees and frictionless public sharing on social media. We see this partnership as a natural fit for us and want to enable automatic giving in a powerful, robust way for organizations doing really great work.”
The new feature is available today, in time for the popular #tippingtuesday.
