Crypto Insider Trading Risks

The SEC began investigating block trading in the stock market. The SEC suspects financial institutions are tipping their preferred clients (hedge funds for example) prior to large block trades.

When a large amount of stocks are sold in a block trade, the stock's price begins dropping prior to the public disclosure of the block trade. Morgan Stanley has confirmed the US Department of Justice has requested information on its block trading services.

A similar phenomena can take place in cryptocurrencies, which may be 'exposed' via large price swings. The leading cryptocurrencies at the time of writing are Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH).
