Nasdaq and the Japan Exchange Group (JPX) have embarked on a development initiative to support a next-generation derivatives trading module for the JPX subsidiary Osaka Exchange.

Earlier this month, Nasdaq made waves by acquiring market data analytics provider Dorsey, Wright & Associates, LLC (DWA) for $225 million, part of a new bid to bolster its existing index portfolio with model-based strategies.

In addition to a newly designed derivatives trading system, Osaka Exchange will also utilize Nasdaq’s Genium INET platform and TradeGuard functions, designed to optimize pre-trade Risk Management .

According to Lars Ottersgård, executive vice president of Market Technology at Nasdaq in a recent statement on the partnership, "We are proud and honored to have achieved this important milestone together with JPX and Osaka Exchange.”

“As we have successfully provided services to Osaka since 2011, this new chapter in our relationship will be particularly focused on supporting the global impact of JPX's business expansion, improving flexibility and performance capabilities, while delivering greater transparency and fair market practices across their derivatives markets. We look forward to a very productive and fruitful future with JPX," he added.
