  • Tradition’s Japanese retail FX division, Gaitame.com, saw its Q3 revenue skyrocket to US$16.2 million (CHF 14.1 million).
  • The firm’s core interdealer broking (IDB) business delivered steady institutional volume, growing 7.5% to generate $340.5 million (CHF 296.1 million).
Compagnie Financière Tradition

Compagnie Financière Tradition (CFT), one of the world's leading interdealer brokers, reported strong Q3 2026 financial results, with consolidated revenue reaching US$356.7 million (CHF 310.2 million).

While this represents a 10.2% overall increase at constant exchange rates, the quarter's standout growth was undeniably driven by a massive, triple-digit revenue surge from its Japanese retail FX division.

Strong Retail FX Growth

CFT's non-IDB retail segment, driven primarily by its Japanese FX subsidiary Gaitame.com, skyrocketed 117.6% at constant exchange rates in Q3. Retail revenue leaped to US$16.2 million (CHF 14.1 million), up from just US$7.7 million (CHF 6.7 million) in Q3 2025.

This jump provides a stark contrast to the first half of 2026, when Tradition reported retail FX revenue growth of just 9%.

It is consistent with heightened Japanese-yen trading activity during July and August, when intervention and a partial carry-trade unwind increased volatility.

Steady IDB Growth

CFT’s foundational interdealer broking (IDB) business remained the group’s principal revenue engine, generating CHF 296.1 million in the third quarter – approximately US$364.5 million – an increase of 7.5% at constant exchange rates.

The result points to sustained institutional broking activity, although CFT’s disclosure does not specify which client segments or trading strategies drove the increase.

Over the first nine months, revenue including CFT’s proportionate share of joint ventures rose 10.3% at constant exchange rates to CHF 956.5 million, or roughly US$1.18 billion. At current exchange rates, growth was a more modest 5.1%, reflecting currency translation effects.
