Thomson Reuters (NYSE:TRI) has added Real Vision, a video-on-demand service for financial media, to a growing list of third-party apps available on its Eikon platform. The app was also added to its T1 terminal, using a subscription-based model of $180 annually, which further demonstrates a trend in the financial industry towards collaborative systems as the drivers of future success.

Real Vision, which recently raised a $10 million Series B after a $5 million A round, provides subscribers with full access to a video-on-demand channel and written research for finance and investing. Recently, the app has been entering the crowded business and financial space with a bang. In addition to the content distribution partnership with Thomson Reuters, the developers are working on a number of new initiatives including distribution on Apple TV.

Unlike traditional cable news, Real Vision offers investors access to insights from investors, analysts, economists and business owners. With an average subscriber age range of 36-45, Real Vision’s programming also appeals to a younger audience than that of traditional cable business news channels.

According to Reuters’ statement, 40 percent of Real Vision’s subscribers earn over $200,000 per year, and 40 percent have investments in excess of $500,000.

The Eikon solution is one of Thomson Reuters’ flagship products that help aggregate and process real-time and historical data, which collectively enable financial markets transactions and Connectivity with the financial markets community. The product has already been adopted across 180 different countries, making it one of the most widely used platforms in the market.

According to Paul Metcalfe, head of North American Digital Solutions at Thomson Reuters: “By 2021, video will represent 80% of all internet traffic; however, content and delivery will continue to be the most important variables that distinguish any medium. Our partnership with Real Vision allows us, through our Reuters Insider platform, to offer our clients high caliber financial video content from some of the smartest minds in finance and economics in the form of actionable, quality programming that helps them gain insight and make more informed investment decisions.”
