The institutional FX space has seen no shortage of developments in 2017, including an emphasis on new regulations and the countdown towards MiFID II this January. In light of the widespread changes poised to shake up the financial services industry, the 2017 Finance Magnates London Summit has opted to feature a range of sessions, panels, and workshops touching on these developments.

Ahead of a regulatory shift across asset classes, distinguished panelists will weigh in on the products, markets, and trends that matter the most in their fields. The panel will also touch on what portfolio diversification consists of for the buy-side and what challenges lie ahead.

Focus: RegTech has been one of the biggest buzzwords over the past couple of years. The seminar will survey the latest developments in regulatory technology and will explain where the field is heading. Additionally, the discussion will touch on a wide range of topics such as cost savings as well as improved compliance using the latest technology, such as AI.

Focus: Traditionally this is a birds-eye view of industry trends, and this year will be no exception. The marquee panel will touch on the industry’s readiness for MiFID II regulations as well as educated estimations of market trends in 2018. Furthermore, the panel will delve into the top priorities of the industry’s largest firms.

Global FX Code Panel

Distributed Ledger Seminar

Speakers: James Maudslay, Global Head of Financial Services at Equinix; Justin Nesbitt, Sales Director at Equinix; Jarrod Yuster, CEO of Pico; and Adrian Patten, Chairman at Cobalt.

Focus: Blockchain technology has been the biggest driver of research and development in 2017, permeating the trading and banking space, among others. The moderated panel will include an introduction by Equinix as well as a short presentation from Cobalt.

Risk Management Workshop

Speakers: Jonathan Brewer, Managing Partner at ISAM Capital Markets; Jeff Wilkins, Managing Director at IS Risk Analytics; and Lawrence Kook, Managing Director at First Gold.

Focus: The workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of the latest risk management techniques and highlight the symbiotic relationship between brokers, liquidity and service providers. This includes insights into the most common misconceptions about risk management and a detailed discussion on the impact of pricing and execution on the retail client base.

FX Convergence Seminar

Speakers: Brandon Mulvihill, Managing Director of FX PB at Jefferies; Dmitri Galinov, CEO of FastMatch; and Kevin Kimmel, Head of e-FX at Citadel Securities.

Focus: In just the last few years the FX market has seen a wide range of changes. During this ongoing process, the relationship between institutional and retail participants seems to have evolved. The seminar looks more deeply at the current state of affairs of retail FX, from the perspective of institutional players.
