IG users reported difficulties accessing the broker's trading platforms today (Monday), with complaints of login failures on desktop browsers and mobile applications.

The reports emerged shortly before and around the US market open. Users in several jurisdictions, including the UK, Ireland, Singapore and Australia, said they were unable to access their accounts. Some reported that the problem affected both the web platform and mobile application, even after trying different browsers and devices.

IG Login Problems Reported Across Regions

One user said they were unable to sign in to close open positions. Other users reported similar problems, although the individual accounts could not be independently verified.

The complaints appeared on outage-monitoring websites and online discussion platforms. They pointed to possible problems with account access, while IG's main website remained available.

Downdetector's UK page later showed no current widespread problems with IG. This indicated that the increase in user reports may have eased by the time of the check.

A discussion on Reddit also included reports from users in Singapore, Australia, the UK and Ireland. A later post stated, “We’re back x”, indicating that access had returned for at least some users.

IG experienced platform disruptions in the past. In May 2020, the broker suffered a system-wide outage, followed by another technical issue that affected the display of client positions on its platform.

Platform Outages Hit Other Firms

Similar platform access problems have affected other brokers. Earlier this month, Interactive Brokers users reported login and platform issues during US trading hours. The broker initially showed its systems as operational before later confirming that a technical issue had affected a small number of clients.

Last November, XTB experienced a platform failure that left some clients unable to close positions for several hours during trading.

Robinhood also experienced service disruptions last year. An outage at Amazon Web Services affected Robinhood and other platforms, with users reporting problems accessing their accounts and trading.
