MasterCard and European payment processor Ogone, have partnered to begin offering MasterCard’s MasterPass Digital Wallet to Ogone merchants and their customers.
The agreement will help expanding MasterPass’ reach and will initially be available for merchants in Belgium, The Netherlands, France, UK, Germany and Spain. MasterCard and Ogone plan to offer MasterPass to all of Ogone’s supported regions by the beginning of 2014.
“On top of our portfolio of over 80 international payment methods, we are pleased to include and provide MasterPass to our clients. As online cross border sales opportunities grow, simplicity and making a wide range of payment methods available are key to helping ecommerce clients improve their check out conversion rates,” Ogone Chief Sales Officer, Ludovic Houri added on the new payment method.

Ogone caters to tens of thousands of merchants, and will help expand MasterPass’ reach in Europe, as well as their partnership with Wordline. MasterPass is also available in the US, Canada and Austrailia, and has recently begun offering in-app purchases through the digital edition of WIRED.
MasterCard is pushing MasterPass extensively and has it quickly supported by a large number of service providers. MasterPass was devised to create a simpler shopping experience to help prevent shopping cart abandonment, and can be linked to multiple payment methods and options, and not only to MasterCard cards. With its flexibility, ease of use and security, more processors and service providers could start adopting this payment option in the near future.
