Societe Generale Names Grégoire Simon-Barboux as Head of Compliance

Societe Generale recently announced that it has appointed Grégoire Simon-Barboux as Group Head of Compliance , succeeding Edouard-Malo Henry who is stepping down from the role.

Simon-Barboux will take on the new role on 1st January 2021. He is currently the Group Deputy Head of Risk and will report to Diony Lebot, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Group. He remains a member of the French bank’s management committee.

Edouard-Malo Henry, on the other hand, will be departing Societe Generale after more than 35 years with the investment bank. According to the company’s statement on Tuesday, he is leaving the firm to focus on personal projects.

As the Group Head of Compliance, Simon-Barboux will be responsible for ensuring the consistency of the bank’s compliance risk prevention and control framework. Additionally, he will focus on adapting the compliance procedures and establish a culture of responsibility within the Group.

Societe Generale Appoints Stéphane Landon as Group Deputy Head of Risk

Filling the role left vacant by Simon-Barboux, Stéphane Landon, who is currently the Chief Financial Officer of SG Americas, has been named as Group Deputy Head of Risk, effective as of 5th October, 2020. Landon in turn, will report to the Group Head of Risk at Societe Generale.

Commenting on the changes, Frédéric Oudéa, Chief Executive Officer of Societe Generale, said in the statement: “We would like to warmly thank Edouard-Malo Henry for his relentless commitment and devotion to Societe Generale group over his long and rich career.

“He has held a wide variety of positions from Head of the Corporate & Investment Banking activities in Australia and Canada, Head of Audit, Head of General Inspection, Head of Human Resources and finally as Head of Compliance. He has been particularly instrumental these last years in reinforcing and transforming the role of Compliance within Societe Generale, in an increasingly demanding context. We wish Grégoire Simon-Barboux and Stéphane Landon every success in their new positions."
