Montréal Exchange Promotes Julie Rochette to VP, Chief Regulatory Officer

Julie Rochette has been elevated to a new lead regulatory role at the exchange group.

TMX Group, an operator of equities, fixed income, derivatives, and energy markets exchanges, has appointed Julie Rochette as the newest Vice President (VP) and Chief Regulatory Officer of the Regulatory Division of the Montréal Exchange, one of its main exchange constituents, per a group statement.

Ms. Rochette originally joined the Montréal Exchange in October 2015 and has since served as its Director, Enforcement and Legal Counsel in the Regulatory Division. Her promotion follows on the heels of a recent move that saw Brian Gelfand take up a new role as the Chief Commercial Officer for CDS and CDCC.

Her appointment is tendered with immediate effect and her mandate will see her heading the exchange’s Regulatory Division, which will help foster compliance with the Rules of the Exchange via several mechanisms. This includes market surveillance, investigations, and trade desk examinations.

Ms. Rochette steps into her new position with over two decades of in legal and compliance realm, including several stops at Laurentian Bank, LBC Financial Services, and others, according to information made public on her Linkedin profile.
