At his new role, Kimble will lead the digital company's efforts "to bring better financial products to emerging markets and under-served populations around the world."

Commenting on his new role, Kimble said: “I’ve spent the vast majority of my career advancing digital Payments and I see tremendous opportunity for Celo to improve the livelihood of billions of people around the world who today are involuntarily detached from the global financial system."

"Celo’s initial projects have demonstrated the value of its open platform and I’m looking forward to furthering awareness and adoption. Celo has built an incredibly strong team and it’s an honor to join them on this mission.”

An Experienced Strategist

Kimble is a payment industry veteran with around 17 years of experience. Before taking charge at Celo, he was serving as the head of partnerships at Circle. He led the company’s business development efforts to launch its Stablecoin which turned out to be a massive success.

Apart from Circle, he also served Dashlane for three years in a couple of leadership roles following his three years term at Square as the head of strategic partnership.

According to his Linkedin profile, Kimble is a trained marketing expert and started his career at Visa in 2012. He spent the majority of his career at the firm and served in various leadership roles like the US head of Citi relationship and head of sales for Canada.

“Chuck brings a ton of business development and digital payments experience to Celo and he’ll play an instrumental role in encouraging the development and scaling of products globally,” said Celo's founder Rene Reinsberg. “Chuck is highly respected in the financial tech industry and he understands how digital payment services can help people and families with no access to financial services. We’re excited to have Chuck join the team and help build and grow Celo’s open ecosystem.”
