The telecommunications industry and the FX business represent two entirely different business models, however, if they are to share a similarity, it is that companies operating within both industries are heavily reliant on keeping abreast of the very latest technological innovations, in order to maintain their market share.

For this reason, unlike when selecting executives for other leadership positions, it can be certainly feasible to recruit a technological lead to an FX firm from the telecommunications industry.

Canadian FX company OANDA has done just that, today announcing that Graeme Whittington has been appointed Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at the firm, having joined from his previous executive role at compatriot manufacturer of mobile telecommunications devices, Blackberry.
