Southampton Football Club, an English professional football club based in Southampton, announced today that it has partnered with its main club partner, Sportsbet.io, for the launch of its first-ever Bitcoin Hunt competition.

Southampton stated that it unveiled the event as it celebrates its continued collaboration with its main club partner. The club is hosting a ‘treasure hunt event’ whose winner will be rewarded with 1 Bitcoin token.

The competition which is popularly known as ‘The Bitcoin Hunt’, will see participants go through an increasing variety of challenges as they strive to win the grand prize. The lucky winner will receive one Bitcoin token whose value currently stands as $37,783 as of the time of this writing.

The Bitcoin Hunt competition is split into three rounds. Each round has various games, like hunts for QR codes, puzzles, tasks that people are expected to complete on social media, and simple questions about the history of Southampton FC.

The competition is open for all Southampton fans within the locale provided that they are 25 or older.

The first round of the competition starts today, right before the game between Southampton and Norwich. Fans will be expected to hunt (look) for QR codes hidden across Southampton.

The second round of the Bitcoin Hunt commences on March 14 whereby fans will be tasked with addressing blockchain-style puzzle challenges about historical Southampton kits. Fans will be expected to collect a total of 35,000 points in order to get a chance to reach the finals.

The last round is planned to start on April 4. Players will be required to search the football club’s social media accounts for a hidden Bitcoin and answer a few questions about the history of Southampton FC.

Three successful players from each round, together with a single player picked at random, will go to the finals. Only one of the ten players will win the grand prize of one Bitcoin.

Charles Read, Southampton Football Club’s Head of Partnership Marketing, talked about the development and said: “We are incredibly excited about the launch of Sportsbet’s Bitcoin Hunt competition. We believe this is the first competition of its kind and the first time a Football Club has given fans the chance to win a Bitcoin, which has been worth between £25k-35k in 2022! We hope that everyone will enjoy taking part in the innovative competition.”

Meanwhile, Joe McCallum, Sportsbet’s Director of Sportsbook, stated: “The Bitcoin Hunt is an innovative way for Sportsbet and Southampton Football Club to enhance our partnership. This will help everyone understand the world of Bitcoin and Blockchain technology in a safe environment. It is a key part of our strategic vision to educate the wider world about cryptocurrencies and eliminate the myths whilst bringing it into our everyday life.”

Using Innovation to Grow Business

Southampton has remained committed to technology and innovation and, as a result, is renewing its relationships with its valued partners.

In August last year, the UK football club renewed its sponsorship deal with eToro for another year. eToro and Southampton first formed a partnership deal in 2018.

In April last year, Sportsbet.io extended its partnership with the English football club for another three years.

Firms have embraced sports sponsorships as a preferred way of promoting their trading platforms. Many companies in the finance industry are sponsoring some major global sports teams.
