Leading discount brokerage Interactive Brokers (IB) has added Bitcoin Tracker One (BITCOIN XBT) to its suite of traded assets, making it accessible to clients outside of Sweden.
Bitcoin Tracker One is an exchange traded note (ETN) that directly tracks the traded price of bitcoin on major USD-based exchanges. It is administered by XBT Provider (a subsidiary of KnC Group) in Sweden, and was recently launched for trade on the Stockholm Stock Exchange, part of the NASDAQ OMX Group.

The bitcoin instrument is the world’s first to be traded on a fully regulated exchange. Traded volumes have been steadily increasing since its launch, and are likely to increase further with its availability to retail clients in the US and other large trading markets.
IB classifies the instrument as a stock in the contracts category, and as an exchange traded fund (ETF) in the stock sub-category. Also available on IB is the recently launched NYSE Bitcoin Index, which tracks the traded price on Coinbase Exchange, in which NYSE is an investor.
Three weeks ago, the instrument was added to Bloomberg terminals.
