The Berlin-based digital bank N26 has introduced joint accounts across 21 countries in Europe to enable users to manage their personal and shared financial responsibilities using an app. This offering is available in countries, such as Austria, Belgium, Spain, and Sweden. According to the company, customers can create a joint account using the N26 app without the need for paperwork.

Expanding Financial Management

The joint accounts are designed to enable users to track expenses, filter information by participant, and monitor their joint monthly budget. Each account comes with its dedicated IBAN, facilitating the management and splitting of shared expenses, such as rent payments or household expenditures.

Besides that, participants have full legal ownership and access to smart insights in the joint accounts, ensuring a transparent financial partnership. N26's joint accounts complement its existing Shared Spaces feature, which offers a solution for creating sub-accounts with close contacts.

Valentin Stalf, the Founder and CEO of N26, mentioned: "N26 customers can open a Joint Account with their partner or loved one in just a few taps, without complexity or tedious paperwork. This way, our customers can easily manage their personal and shared finances within the N26 app while building healthy financial habits and achieving their financial goals together."

N26 Expands Services

According to the digital lender, these solutions enable customers to budget for various activities, split expenses with roommates, or share larger purchases without the constraints of a traditional joint bank account. Founded in 2013 by Stalf and Maximilian Tayenthal, N26 has over 8 million customers across 24 markets. The digital bank processes more than 100 billion EUR worth of transactions annually.

Last month, N26 expanded its instant savings accounts to 13 European countries, including Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, and Slovenia.

The interest rates for the savings account are tiered, with N26 Metal customers receiving 4% annually, while N26 Smart, You account holders or those with the free N26 standard account earn 2.8% annually on deposits.
