LMAX Exchange is a multilateral trade facility that provides FX trading to retail and institutional clients. The group will be assimilating elements of Metamako’s product suite to help monitor all incoming and outgoing FX data in the firm’s core matching engine system. Moreover, the integration will see LMAX’s replacement of its fiber-optic capabilities with Metamako’s solutions.

The integration of Metamako’s solutions are important for LMAX as its will be able to garner several advantages to its overall data package, which includes improved monitoring and broadcasting capabilities as well as the ability to replicate data feeds.

New Scaling Benefits

In particular, LMAX will be able to reap several benefits of the new solutions implementation, including the utilization of simplified Data Center cabling and economies of scale in the process. Furthermore, the solutions package from Metamako will also look to allow LMAX Exchange to repatch its racks and servers dynamically, whereby hoping to achieve a better return of investment (ROI).

According to Ralf Duken, Head of Networks & Security at LMAX Exchange, in a recent statement on the integration, “Having looked at several providers of network devices, it became clear to us that Metamako’s devices offered a significant improvement compared to our existing, passive solution. Metamako offers several advantages, including dynamic patching, increased network visibility, more accurate timestamps and a simplified network environment, with less cabling.”

“Moving from passive tapping to active, as we are with Metamako, means that we get better signal quality and therefore a reduced error rate. Metamako’s outstanding reliability record, as well as the advanced functionality and speed their devices offer, were critical factors in our decision,” he added.

“Dynamic patching allows LMAX Exchange to change the configuration of their systems remotely, from any location. This means that they will be more responsive to customer demands, as nodes can be added from anywhere, and reduces the errors, which might be introduced through physical rewiring,” noted Dave Snowdon, Founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Metamako, in an accompanying statement.
