SIX has launched SIX Market Signal, a new market data service providing real-time European equity prices through APIs.
The service comes as SIX expands its European equity infrastructure. In October last year, SIX selected Aquis to build a shared trading platform connecting SIX Swiss Exchange, BME and Aquis, with the equity platform planned for next year.
Separately, ESMA authorised EuroCTP in July this year to operate the EU’s consolidated tape for shares and ETFs, combining pre- and post-trade data from multiple venues into a single feed. Retail investors will receive free access once the service becomes operational.
SIX Launches Real-Time European Equity Data
At the centre of SIX Market Signal is 1BBO, a real-time feed showing the best bid and ask prices for cash equities. It uses order book data from SIX Swiss Exchange and BME Exchange, while also covering 16 European markets through Aquis Exchange.

Only direct exchange data feeds, typically used by market makers and execution desks, provide faster access to prices, SIX said.
SIX Market Signal also includes historical and intraday data, with additional datasets expected to be added over time.
Exchange Data Service Launches via API
The service extends market data access beyond trading desks, with use cases including wealth management, benchmarking and compliance. Swiss retail investors can subscribe immediately, with EU and UK rollouts planned.
Users will also be licensed to train trading models and AI agents, while APIs allow brokers, fintechs, banks and other firms to integrate the data into their systems.
SIX Market Signal uses viaNexus technology for real-time distribution, entitlement management and cloud API delivery. The service is currently available to institutional investors.
Santiago Ximenez, Head of Data & Connectivity , Exchanges at SIX, said the service would broaden access to European exchange data.
“With Market Signal, SIX is removing the barriers when accessing high-quality exchange data across European capital markets,” Ximenez said.
