Bloomberg is continuing to expand its global reach with the launch of its first dedicated website for Africa, Bloomberg.com/Africa, offering regional news and insight backed by a global reporting team of more than 2,600 journalists.
Like its global parent site, Bloomberg Africa will be powered by custom tech platform Javelin, its new article and template design that was unveiled recently with the launch of Bloomberg Technology.
As well as breaking news and mobile alerts, the new site will include active social media presence using the dedicated Africa Twitter handle @BBGAfrica.

The new investment is part of a global expansion by the media arm of the financial markets information provider which saw the launch of a European edition of Bloomberg a year ago and a version for Asia last November 2015.
Localized push into vibrant Africa
The newly-formed site will have a digital editor, who will curate content from its 100-strong editorial team covering Africa from seven bureaus and from across the rest of Bloomberg.
Today’s announcement is a significant milestone in Bloomberg’s approach towards a global and multi-platform media brand. In the last year, the company has launched regional sites in EMEA and Asia, re-launched its Japanese language website and entered into an ambitious multi-platform partnership in India. It is now expanding reach to important business and finance audiences in Africa.
Bloomberg Media CEO Justin B. Smith unveiled the new edition at the Bloomberg’s ABMI forum today in Naivasha, Kenya. In a press statement, Antony Sguazzin, Managing Editor Bloomberg and Sub-Saharan Africa, said: “Africa is playing an increasingly significant role in the global economy. With the launch of this dedicated regional digital platform, we are establishing a home to showcase the best of Bloomberg’s rich content on the people, companies, politics and economies shaping the continent.”
