Two months ago Metaquotes announced its plans to develop an iPhone mobile trading terminal for Metatrader 4. Ever since Metatrader 4 was launched it lacked a mobile app and due to this quite a few mobile development companies (iphorex, forexonthego and others) emerged in the market.
Metaquotes did release a mobile app for its next generation of trading platforms – Metatrader 5, however as there are still hundreds of brokers offering Metatrader 4 it finally succumbed to their requirements and rolled out an iPhone trading terminal for MT4. For now this mobile terminal which was available on Windows OS based phones for a while is available on Apple store for iPhones, iPad and iPod which for now leaves out other smartphones users who use Blackberries and Android based phones. Metaquotes will probably roll out native mobile apps for these platforms soon enough.

Metaquotes also recently declared war on many mobile forex platform providers as most of them reverse engineer Metatrader client protocols to be able to provide the forex apps. Currently the company is focused on plugging all the holes those companies are using to be able to offer their clients mobile trading on the Metatrader4 platform. Without any doubt this would be highly detrimental to the mobile firms’ business and their clients will suffer as a result.

is this news? mt has been mobile on winmo, ios and android for a while.
This mobile application has been there since 2008 and it was serverd by Metaquotes itself. I am sorry Michael but i have to disagree with you on this! Metaquotes is due to release an iphone version soon.
When a company’s strategy is only to block competition then this company is on a down spiral. At the end they add to release mt4 for iphone as mt5 is not popular at all and the plan to swap mt4 to mt 5 as totally failed especially at user levels.
The user interface of mt4 iphone is COMPLETELY COPIED ( EVEN THE COLOR) from our Tradeinterceptor interface : so this company is not even able to create their own user interface. ( as they have copied metastock from the beginning)
I would not buy metastock share if they were pubblic.
In my last post please read i would not buy metaquote share
I agree with Rodolfo; but to an extent…MQ isn’t heading into a downward spiral. They are simply improving their product to make it more attractive to their client (ie. Brokers). I think with time, all 3rd party developers in the FX market will slowly begin to fold, as brokers will tend to migrate over to the MQ solution – seeing its only a one time fee (no tech charges based on volume) and furthermore, its supported by the makers of MT4. The only ones that will remain standing, are those that offer unique integrations and content to users; features that… Read more »
