Capital.com has launched direct investing in stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) for clients across its European markets, adding long-term ownership to a platform that has so far focused on short-term trading. Announced today (Monday), the broker described it as a step toward becoming a multi-asset trading and investment platform.

The offering covers more than 2,280 stocks and ETFs across the US and European markets, including a range of local European companies.

Capital.com charges no commission on stock or ETF investments. Eligible clients can access them across nearly all of the company's European Economic Area markets.

Execution-Only, Alongside Existing Tools

Capital.com offers stocks and ETFs on an execution-only, non-advised basis, which means it does not recommend which ones to buy. Clients gain access through the standard onboarding process that the company applies to new products.

The new products sit alongside the research, charting, and portfolio tools already on the platform. The broker said clients can apply the same information to a long-term holding as they would to a short-term position.

According to the broker, the launch reflects how clients use markets. Some act on a short-term view, while others build positions they plan to hold for years. Direct ownership of stocks and ETFs gives the second group a dedicated product, sitting next to the short-term trading instruments already offered.

Christoforos Soutzis, CEO Europe at Capital.com, said clients often span both approaches. "Many trade on short-term views and build long-term positions within the same week," Soutzis said. He added that the company decided to become a multi-asset provider so clients in Europe have "a genuine choice between the two, in one place."

Sasha Gubochkin, Chief Product Officer at Capital.com, said every product added to the platform, on web and app, has to pass one test. "Does it help a client understand their situation more clearly before they act?" Gubochkin said. He said the design principles will stay the same as the product range grows, with less noise, less urgency and information presented so that the decision belongs to the client.

UAE and UK Next in Line

Europe is the first region to receive the offering. Capital.com said stocks and ETFs will be rolled out across its other markets, including the UAE and the UK, in the coming months. The announcement did not give specific dates for those launches or list which EEA markets are excluded.

The company said the wider move reflects its aim to serve a range of client needs, from traders acting on short-term views to investors building long-term positions, within a single platform.
