According to the data, Gaitame’s traders brought in $180 billion worth of transactions during the month. The figure is down on last month’s by 31 percent and 37.5 percent lower than the same period in 2015.

Gaitame, as one of the biggest Japanese brokerages, is no stranger to the lulls that the financial markets are used to seeing over the summer months, particularly in August. In addition, its volumes have been greatly impacted by the latest bouts of Volatility on the foreign exchange market and continue to be affected by the aftermath of the Brexit vote.

The typical seasonal slowdown during the summer months has been observed in almost all Japanese broker houses last month and as usually can be expected, the markets should get back into full swing during September.

As seen, Gaitame still continued to add new clients in August even though the figure was down on July’s 3,010. The total number of deposits held at the brokerage has increased marginally to ¥111 trillion after peaking in May.
