Finance Magnates learned on Wednesday that EuropeFX is sponsoring the South Sydney Rabbitohs, a rugby team based in the Australian capital. The deal was brokered by sports consultancy and sponsorship firm WH Sports.
The agreement will see the Cyprus-based foreign exchange broker acting as a partner to the Rabbitohs during the upcoming 2019/2020 season.
“We are proud to announce that the South Sydney Rabbitohs rugby club chose EuropeFX as their 2019/20 sponsors,” said the broker in a statement.
“With a fanbase of millions in Australia and around the world, the Rabbitohs are a true powerhouse in the National Rugby League and a serial contender for the top spots all in domestic and international competitions. Everyone at EuropeFX will be rooting for the Rabbitohs as they strive for an unprecedented 22nd Premiership in the 2019 NRL season.”

The EuropeFX deal is the latest in a string of partnerships between sports firms and retail trading companies.
With their ability to market to clients severely restricted, sports sponsorship is one avenue by which brokers can reach a large audience without infringing upon regulatory strictures.
WH Sports has been particularly active in brokering these deals. In the past couple of months, the firm helped to set up an agreement between Wolves and Coindeal, as well as RoboMarkets’ sponsorship of BMW Motorsport.
