Wise, the platform known for cross-border payments and multi-currency accounts, is making a significant change in its top management by naming Emmanuel Thomassin as the incoming Chief Financial Officer and Director. He will join the London-listed fintech on 1 October 2024.

Emmanuel Thomassin Is the New CFO at Wise

Thomassin will replace Matthew Briers who has stepped down as the CFO. He resigned from Wise last year in May after spending about eight years in the role. Until Thomassin joins, Kingsley Kemish, the current Senior Group Financial Director, will serve as the interim CFO.

“Matt has been a fantastic partner as we built the foundations of this business, and Emmanuel's deep experience in leading teams while scaling a fast-growth company globally makes him the ideal candidate to take up this challenge and join us on our mission as we enter our second decade,” said the Co-Founder and CEO of Wise, Kristo Käärmann.

Thomassin will join Wise from Delivery Hero, a local delivery platform, where he has served as CFO for the past 10 years. There, he served on the Board of Delivery Hero's technology incubator and sat on the supervisory Boards of multiple other companies, including MetaDesign, where he served as CFO for five years from 2007 to 2012.

A Growing Fintech

Previously known as Transferwise, the fintech rebranded in 2021 to expand services beyond cross-border payments. Indeed, the company has expanded into multi-currency accounts, debit cards, and business accounts.

The London-headquartered company maintained its growth over the years and generated a quarterly revenue of £276.6 million in the third quarter of the fiscal year 2024. Its income for the period increased 40 percent to £375.1 million. Further, it upgraded its annual income growth guidance to 42-44 percent.

In a statement, Thomassin said: “Wise has radically transformed market expectations of modern financial services, redefining the speed, price, and ease with which people and businesses can move and manage their money around the world. And, with its bold vision of money without borders, it is clear that Wise is still just at the start of its ambitious journey.”
