Australian banking stalwart Westpac, has undergone an executive shuffle today, culminating in the retirement of Chief Executive Gail Kelly and

westpacAustralian banking stalwart Westpac, underwent an executive shuffle today, culminating in the retirement of Chief Executive Gail Kelly and the succession of Brian Hartzer.

Westpac has been in the capable hands of Miss Kelly during several tumultuous years of the global financial crisis – her seven years as Chief Executive helped steer the group towards surging market capitalization and other initiatives in Australia. She will be relinquishing her role as of February 1, 2015.

In her place will be Brian Hartzer, who joined Westpac from the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) in 2012. He has served as the Head of Retail, Wealth and Business Banking Divisions and will now be helping manage the bank’s global initiatives.
