Los Angeles-based Wedbush Securities, a provider of private and institutional brokerage services in the US, has secured the services of Michael McMaster as its Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer (CCO(

In his new capacity, Michael will oversee the company’s legal, compliance, surveillance, and regulatory practices, and also help maintain ties with domestic and international partners within the financial services industry.

He will be tasked with ‎ensuring ‎adherence to the relevant rules, regulations, and guidelines by which the ‎firm is bound. Given the increasingly global nature of the business and a ‎‎regulatory landscape that is constantly evolving, this is a greater challenge ‎‎now than ever before.

“He will serve as a liaison for the firm on compliance matters with its regulators, including FINRA, the SEC, and the NYSE. Mike will be based in the firm’s Los Angeles headquarters, reporting to Andrew Druch, Esq., Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer,” Wedbush said.

McMaster has gained extensive experience from more than 22 years in compliance roles and managing large scale regulatory projects. His career, which spans over three decades, encompasses several stints as CCO with BNY Mellon’s Capital Markets and Clearance and Collateral Management Divisions and previously as CCO for Libra Securities and as CCO and Counsel with Rabobank’s broker/dealer unit.

Earlier in his career, he initially worked as a mortgage-backed securities trader.

Founded in 1955, Wedbush Securities provides futures Execution and clearing services to major futures exchanges, supporting a variety of clients, including non-clearing FCMs, introducing brokers, professional traders, and institutions. Earlier last year, the company agreed to acquire the assets of technology-focused registered investment adviser ABR Investment Strategy LLC.
