Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has appointed Julia Leung as its newest Executive Director of the Investment Products Division for a three-year term that is slated to take effect March 2, 2015.

Ms. Leung will be succeeding Alexa Lam, who will be relinquishing her post and retiring at the end of February. Ms. Leung’s role will be instrumental in the policy and oversight of the SFC over the next three years as the financial services industry continues to grow there.

According to SFC’s Chief Executive Officer Ashley Alder in a recent statement on the appointment, "Ms. Leung brings to the SFC a wealth of experience and knowledge. I look forward to working closely with her in her new role heading the Investment Products Division and as a member of our Board."

"I would also like to thank Alexa for her crucial contribution to the development of the SFC and the financial services industry over the years, and in particular her work on Mainland projects which enabled Hong Kong to embed its role as a gateway connecting China to the rest of the world. On behalf of our colleagues, I wish her a very happy retirement," Mr. Alder added.
