Mitrade EU promoted Timur Konsky from chief operating officer to chief executive today (Thursday). He will lead the CFD broker's European retail expansion as its parent group reports heavier trading activity.

Konsky's first assignment is Germany, where Mitrade plans to use feedback on onboarding, costs, platform use, risk controls and support before entering more European markets.

Mitrade Group said lots traded rose 148.4% in the first seven months of 2026 from a year earlier, while active clients increased by more than 50%.

Konsky Moves Up From COO

A July 21 announcement from payments company Volt identified Konsky as chief operating officer of Mitrade EU. That partnership is intended to add instant SEPA deposits and real-time payouts for the broker's European clients.

Mitrade said Konsky has more than 20 years of fintech experience in product development, marketing and regulated brokerages. The release did not name his previous employers or state whether another executive held the EU CEO position before him.

"Europe ... is not a single retail market," Konsky said. He pointed to differences in trading habits, product preferences, pricing and support across countries.

Germany Is the First Test

Germany offers Mitrade a large investing population but a much smaller leveraged-trading pool. Research from FM Intelligence published by FinanceMagnates.com in July counted 14.1 million share, fund or ETF investors in 2025. Only 63,000 people actively traded CFDs or FX in the 12 months to February 2025.

Those figures cover different products and periods, so they are a measure of scale, not a penetration rate. They also show why a broad retail-investing audience does not automatically translate into demand for leveraged derivatives.

Mitrade said local feedback will shape its German offering, but it did not disclose a launch timetable, hiring plan, acquisition budget or client target. The EU operation currently offers CFDs under a Cyprus license.

The announcement also does not say whether Mitrade will open a German office or continue serving the market across borders through its Cyprus authorization.

German Brokers Broaden Beyond CFDs

Other brokers have expanded in Germany with products outside the conventional over-the-counter CFD model. CMC Markets launched listed certificates and warrants in Germany and Austria on May 11 through its Frankfurt subsidiary, initially focusing on crypto-linked products.

XTB introduced call and put options on 100 heavily traded US stocks in Germany, Spain and Cyprus during the first quarter of 2026, according to FM Intelligence coverage of its quarterly results.

Mitrade's announcement centers on localizing its existing CFD service. It does not add an exchange-traded product line.

CMC is using listed securities issued through a Frankfurt unit, while XTB added listed options to a wider investment account. Both approaches compete for leveraged-trading demand without relying only on conventional CFDs.

CySEC Review Tests Distribution Models

Mitrade's European expansion begins during a regulatory review of retail product distribution. The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) set out the work in Circular C758.

CySEC will examine staff pay, inducements, digital-platform product steering and conflicts between firm profits and client interests.

The regulator said the exercise will test how firms identify, prevent and manage those conflicts under the European Union's Markets in Financial Instruments Directive II (MiFID II).

The review may include on-site visits or desk-based checks at selected Cyprus investment firms. It does not identify Mitrade as a target or suggest Mitrade has breached the rules.

The broker's required risk warning says 80% of its retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs. European brokers are also considering listed futures and options as supervisors increase scrutiny of leveraged over-the-counter products.

CySEC's public register lists MiTrade EU Limited under license 438/23 and gives Oct. 9, 2023, as its authorization date.
