Liquidnet, an institutional trading and equities network, has on-boarded Simon Gilbert as its newest Sales Director, who joins the group’s London office, according to a company statement.

In his new role Mr. Gilbert will be tasked with assisting the group’s European Members source institutional Liquidity in US equities. In this capacity, Mr. Gilbert will be reporting to Tony Booth, Head of Sales at Liquidnet. His appointment will also see him working in tandem with Liquidnet’s Trade Coverage, Sales, Fixed Income and Execution and Quantitative Services teams, helping develop the group’s long-term sales strategies.

Mr. Gilbert joins Liquidnet with over a decade of experience in US equity sales for Europe. His most recent role was at Sterne Agee, having worked as its Director of the London-based US equities side of the business. Additional roles also include City Life, Piper Jaffray, Macquarie, among others.

According to Mark Pumfrey, Head of Liquidnet EMEA, in a statement on the appointment: “There is real demand for US liquidity in EMEA, so I am delighted to welcome Simon to the company to focus on further developing our US equities business with the European buy-side community. His experience in building and running US equities desks in Europe will be a great addition to our global institutional trading network.”
