A leading operator of clearing houses and global exchanges including data and listing services, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), listed on the NYSE under ticker ICE, has today announced the promotion of Mayur Kapani as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO), as per a company statement.

As part of the new role and after a decade at the firm, Mr. Kapani will now oversee ICE’s technology infrastructure globally, including ICE futures exchanges and clearing houses, and he will also provide guidance for technology at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Interactive Data – businesses that ICE owns. Just days earlier, ICE announced the launch of new futures contracts, as reported by Finance Magnates.

During the past decade, Mayur has played a key role in helping ensure our technology infrastructure is scalable, secure and among the most reliable in the financial industry.

He will report to Chuck Vice, ICE President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), as Mr. Kapani is promoted from his prior position with the company as senior Vice President (SVP) of Trading Technology to his new role as CTO.

“During the past decade, Mayur has played a key role in helping ensure our technology infrastructure is scalable, secure and among the most reliable in the financial industry,” said Jeffrey C. Sprecher, Chairman and CEO of ICE, commenting on the promotion.

Ten years at ICE

Mr. Sprecher added: “As we’ve grown from a single market to a leading operator of exchanges, clearing houses and data services for customers around the world, Mayur’s expertise in technology and understanding of the financial markets remains instrumental in achieving our growth objectives.”

Earlier in his career, Mr. Kapani was VP of options development at the Philadelphia Stock Exchange and helped with the transition of trading from a floor-based model to a high-performance electronic platform as exchanges moved to more digital trading.

He holds a Bachelors of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, and also completed the Wharton Management Program in the U.S, as per the ICE update.
