- CME Group, one of the world’s largest derivatives exchanges has today announced the appointment of Cees Vermaas as Managing Director and CEO of CME Europe, who will lead the company’s London-based derivatives exchange.

Mr. Vermaas is expected to report to William Knottenbelt, CME Group Senior Managing Director for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), as CME Europe continues its development since its initial launch in April this year. At the time of writing, the exchange offers 30 FX futures products and 7 biofuel products, although this line up is expected to expand rapidly under Mr. Vermaas.
Mr. Vermaas has served as CEO of NYSE Euronext Amsterdam and as a member of the Management Committee of NYSE Euronext since 2010, with global responsibility for international business development for cash and listings.
