Anne Marie Verstraeten has been appointed head of the UK for BNP Paribas, responsible for all the French bank’s activities in the country, where it employs 7,500 people, as per a Reuters report today.
Verstraeten has been head of the Netherlands for BNP Paribas for the last two years and brings with her a wealth of international experience, mainly in the area of Corporate and Institutional Banking.

From July 2010 she was Country Head for BNP Paribas in Canada and a member of the Management Team of BNP Paribas North America and has held several international positions for BNP Paribas Fortis. Between 2008 and 2010 she was Global Head of the Fortis worldwide Energy group in London.
Senior Management Roles
Prior to this Verstraetem was Senior Corporate Banker in the Fortis UK Merchant Bank in London. She held senior different senior management positions in the Group’s Corporate and Mid-Market Banking Divisions in the UK, the US and Asia and in the Private Bank in London.
Verstraeten has a degree in Applied Economic Sciences from the UFSIA (Antwerp) and achieved a Master’s degree in International and Monetary Economics from the Catholic University of Leuven. She replaces Ludovic de Montille who has been made non-executive UK group chairman and starts in her new position with immediate effect.
