Financial markets data and infrastructure provider Refinitiv hired Ashan Taha as a director, Analytics and feeds, in London earlier this month, Finance Magnates has learned.

Refinitiv serves over 40,000 institutions in approximately 190 countries. The firm provides data and insights, trading platforms, and open data and technology platforms.

London-headquartered Refinitiv aims to enable more resposible, transparent and connected financial markets, according to the company's linked in profile.

State Street

Taha had served as a Liquidity manager at Currenex, now State Street, for almost four years before taking on his new role.

State Street bought online platform Currenex in 2007 for $564 million in cash to add electronic foreign exchange trading service.

Currenex was founded in 1999 and served banks, hedge funds and other active traders.

Vice chairman and global head of investment servicing and investment research, Joseph Hooley, said in the year the acquisition took place, that the move diversifies State Streetโ€™s trading customer base beyond traditional asset managers to include more active currency managers and hedge funds.

Extensive industry experience

Taha is a quant analyst with technical experience, as well as with experience in foreign exchange and fixed income.

His career began as a quant developer at BNP Paribas in 1997. He spent 10 years at the French bank, holding various positions, including team leader of the historical data team and fixed income quant analyst.

In 2009, Taha joined Thomson Reuters, where he worked as a quant analyst for more than seven years.
