BATS Global Markets has appointed Chris Concannon as its newest Executive Vice President, transaction services, having ascended to the Executive committee in his new role after a lengthy tenure at Nasdaq.

In his new role at BATS, Mr. Concannon will be based out of New York, where he will report to Joe Ratterman, the CEO of BATS Global Markets. Previously, Mr. Concannon served as the President and COO at Virtu Financial for five years, specializes in Liquidity to a variety of asset classes including equities, fixed income, commodities, and FX. Prior to this he worked for six years at Nasdaq.

According to Mr. Concannon in a recent statement on the appointment, “BATS is very excited to welcome a well-established strategic leader like Chris, someone who has spent the past 15 years as an advocate in reshaping - and improving - U.S. market structure. At a pivotal time for the global trading industry, his unparalleled track record as an Exchange executive, trading customer and regulator brings a unique perspective to our firm. Chris fits our culture perfectly and I look forward to working with him as we continue to execute on our mission of making markets better.”
