The UCF Knights will play NC State in the Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl on December 26th.

UCF head coach George O’Leary previously said that he preferred to have the game before Christmas because of past experience when students had to practice over the holidays. He at least got his wish for his team to play in Florida if they weren’t selected to a New Year’s Day bowl game.

It is the Knights’ third appearance at the game since 2009, and also their third-straight bowl appearance.

The event, traditionally named the NCAA Bowl, has been renamed as the Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl. Bitcoin payment processor BitPay is sponsoring the event for 3 years and is working with the local community to prepare for the “biggest bitcoin event in the world.” They have even brought two full-time employees down to St. Petersburgh and various events have been held to get local businesses to start accepting bitcoin.

Tickets can be ordered here, where bitcoin is one of the payment options.
