Bittylicious – Bringing Bitcoins to the UK

Founded by Marc Warne and launched in June 2013, Bittylicious is a UK based platform that sells Bitcoins intended for UK transfers. Buying Bitcoins in the UK has traditionally been difficult, and Bittylicious was created to improve this situation by providing GBP denominated purchases as well as the ability to pay via UK based bank transfers. Bittylicious has since expanded to include multiple currency options and is available in a growing umber of countries in Western Europe.

As opposed to Bitcoin exchanges that match buyers and sellers and use a central orderbook, Bittylicious operates as a marketplace. Qualified sellers partner with Bittylicious to list their available bitcoins for sale, with buyers being quoted the best current prices. Unlike exchanges, buyers don’t have the option to enter bid prices lower than the current available market, or offer their bitcoins for sale unless they become approved sellers.

Although no formal registration is truly required to start using Bittylicious, registration allows users to transfer larger amounts, while those who don’t register are restricted to smaller amounts.

In its easy to navigate system, users choose how many Bitcoins they want to purchase and provide a Bitcoin address. Payments are made by using Bittylicious’ online banking system. Once the payment is confirmed the Bitcoins are transferred.

After initially launching with Bitcoins, Bittylicious now offers a marketplace with a growing list of altcoins including Litecoins, Dogecoins, Quarkcoins. They are also one of the few venues available to purchase Max Keiser’s Maxcoins.
