Tickmill has once again strategized to target sports fans by signing a South African cricket star Jonty Rhodes as its brand ambassador.

“With precision and strategy as his forte, Jonty will now empower Tickmill traders. Get ready for an empowering trading experience,” the forex and contracts for differences (CFDs) broker wrote in a LinkedIn post yesterday (Tuesday).

Jonty Rhodes Becomes the New Face of Tickmill

The retail broker, however, did not give any details on its deal with Rhodes. It is also unclear how long the former cricketer will remain as the broker's representative.

A 54-year-old Rhodes played for the South African national cricket team from 1992 to 2003. He was famed for his outstanding fielding displays during games, especially for his dives to stop the ball. After his retirement as a player, he continued his association with the game, becoming the fielding coach for a couple of domestic league teams in India and South Africa.

He is also active on social media, with 430.7K followers on Twitter and 256K followers on Instagram. Any promotion of Tickmill on his socials will put the brokerage brand in front of thousands of cricket fans.

Luring in the Cricket Fans

Tickmill has become a renowned retail FX and CFDs brokerage brand. Headquartered in London, the broker operates in the United Kingdom with a Financial Conduct Authority license. It also offers services globally and holds licenses from regulators in Cyprus, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Malaysia, and Seychelles.

The recent signing of Rhodes signals the broker’s extensive campaign in South Africa and perhaps in other cricket-playing nations as well.

Meanwhile, the partnership with Rhodes is not the first sports deal of Tickmill. Last year, the broker partnered with the Swiss football club Zug 94 as a part of its corporate social responsibility effort.

Apart from Tickmill, many other brokers have signed deals with sports personalities, onboarding them as ambassadors. XTB, over the years, has inked deals with multiple top names in sports, including Conor McGregor, Iker Casillas, and José Mourinho. Avatrade additionally signed Usain Bolt, the fastest athlete on the track.
