A British universal bank, Barclays has hired Tim Albers, Nomura’s former Head of FX Structuring, Asia excluding Japan (AEJ), as its Head of FX Strats and Structuring, AEJ. Albers left his role at Nomura after over 13 and a half years.

The executive, who boasts about 15 years of industry experience, previously worked as a forex executive at Barclays Capital between October 2008 and May 2009. He first joined the British company in October 2008 after spending a year and five months as a Forex Analyst at Lehman Brothers.

Albers joined Nomura in June 2009 as the Executive Director of FX Structuring and later became the Executive Director of FX Options Trading, Singapore, before being appointed as the Head of FX Structuring, AEJ. The executive holds a Masters of Science degree in Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Barclays and Nomura's Hires in Recent Months

Over the past months, Barclays has made a number of appointments, including the hiring of Arif Vohra as the Co-Head of Investment Banking Financial Institutions Group (FIG) in Europe, the Middle East and Africa; the promotion of Ben Parkinson from Managing Director to Head of Global Fintech and FX Automation Sales at Barclays Corporate & Investment Bank; and the selection of Hossein Zaimi as the Head of Markets for the Asia Pacific region.

Additionally, Nomura recently named Patrick Eltridge as its New Group Chief Information Officer in a Tokyo-based role. On the contrary, Ian Daniels, a sales veteran, left Nomura in late September to join BCG Partners as the Global Head of Fenics NDF.

Meanwhile, Nomura Singapore earlier in the year appointed Tan Tee How as the Chairman of its Board of Directors. Additionally, the subsidiary firm chose How as Chairman of the Audit Committee of Nomura Asia Pacific Holdings. How’s appointment came after Michael Lim stepped down from both positions.

Furthermore, Nomura hired Robert Stark as the firm’s Head of Investment Management in the Americas earlier in the year.
