Societe Generale Appoints Yann Garnier as Head of Global Markets - APAC
- A recent vacancy created by the promotion of Frank Drouet has been filled by Yann Garner.
Societe Generale has appointed Yann Garnier as its newest Head of Global Markets in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, following a vacancy at the position that had briefly been open since last week, Finance Magnates has learned.
The hire is the second major move at Societe Generale in as many weeks, following the promotion of Frank Drouet as the group’s Head of Global Markets, who replaced Daniel Fields. Mr. Fields had left Societe Generale to pursue other opportunities, resulting in a key void being filled by Drouet’s appointment as he had been the acting Head of Global Markets in APAC for Societe Generale since 2012.

Mr. Garnier succeeds Mr. Drouet, having formerly worked as his deputy – in his new role as the Head of Global Markets – APAC, he will be based out of Hong Kong, reporting directly to Mr. Drouet and Hikaru Ogata, Societe Generale’s CEO of Global Banking and investor solutions for APAC.
By extension, Societe Generale has also appointed Marc El Asmar as its Head of Sales for Global Markets, who will himself be succeeding David Escoffier, after he had left the lender. Like Garnier, Mr. El Asmar will be reporting to Mr. Drouet, albeit out of London. Both men step into their respective appointments with immediate effect.
