Scotiabank (NYSE: BNS) has brought in veteran technology investor, Scott Bonham, who joins the group as the newest member of the lender’s Board of Directors – his appointment is tendered with immediate effect, according to a Scotiabank statement.

Mr. Bonham joins Scotiabank’s Board having garnered a lengthy career across a number of technology and venture capital investment venues. He currently serves as the Co-Founder and Partner of The Fueling Station, a real estate management group serving Canadian entrepreneurs and Startup companies.

In addition, he has also spearheaded an effort to build GGV Capital, a leading venture capital firm that has succeeded in raising an excess of $2 billion in more than one hundred companies worldwide. According to Thomas O'Neill, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Scotiabank, in a recent statement on the appointment to the group’s Board: "Scott brings extensive experience as an entrepreneurial technology investor with deep connections in Silicon Valley, China, and Canada. His passion for innovation and deep roots in the technology sector will be a great asset to the Board."
