  • The strategic hire aims to navigate a booming Southeast retail sector facing margin compression, rising operating expenses, and increased compliance costs.
Panagiotis Karamanis, Head of Asia, Axon Markets

Axon Markets has appointed Panagiotis Karamanis as its new Head of Asia, tasking the business development veteran to scale the offshore CFD broker’s footprint across the critical APAC region.

London's trading industry is coming home!

Karamanis transitions to Axon Markets following a recent stint as Country Manager for Thailand at EC Markets, and brings solid pedigree in client acquisition, having previously held senior roles at FXGT and Squared Financial.

“My focus will be on expanding our business across the region, strengthening partner relationships and building our regional presence to support sustainable growth,” Karamanis noted regarding his appointment.

Operated by Axon Markets Ltd, the broker is regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) of Seychelles.

A Growing Market but with a Catch

Southeast Asia’s retail brokerage market is expanding as brokers seek access to a growing investor base.

Indonesia’s retail investor population has risen sharply to more than 20 million, while Thailand remains an important regional market, with nearly half of local traders using trading apps as their primary channel.

Yet growth is not costless: brokers face margin compression, rising operating costs and increasing acquisition and compliance expenses.

Against this background, locally embedded executives and partner networks, particularly introducing brokers and affiliates, remain central to client acquisition across much of the region.
