This year’s event was huge, with participants from all over the world.
Emerging nations and regions were strongly represented.
PSPs were everywhere and they were all talking FX … and crypto.
From the iFX EXPO International 2024 venue
iFX Expo International … what an event that was. As the dust
settles, what was it like? What was the vibe? How did it all feel?
It’s over. The iFX Expo International (site) stormed Limassol from June
18-20, 2024, stole all the taxis and restaurant reservations and then headed
for the airport to disappear into the sun. But those three days, they were
busy, packed with talk, meetings and discussions. Limassol became the ultimate
playground for the world’s forex service providers and fintech wizards, all
gathered at the City of Dreams Mediterranean resort. This wasn’t your
run-of-the-mill conference.
The event was packed and the lush interiors of the City of Dreams
were full of FX industry reps of all sorts sizes and shapes. From the largest
companies to plucky startups, from CMOs hawking for business to tired-looking salespeople,
it was heaving.
You know you're in for a good time when you're greeted by a polar bear.
Keynotes
CySEC Chairman, Dr. George Theocharides delivered an insightful speech.
The talks where headline events and
the expo delivered a slew of keynote speeches from industry bigwigs on major trends. The event opened with CySEC Chairman, Dr. George Theocharides and moved on
to topics including Cash Me If You Can: Evolving Payments, What's Next for Liquidity
Providers?, Fintech Frontiers: Sculpting the Future of Finance and much, much
more. And for those into heated debates, the panel
discussions had experts hashing out the hottest trends and toughest challenges
facing the financial sector such as open banking and future-proofing risk
management. Whether it was regulatory updates or cutting-edge tech
advancements, attendees were in the thick of it.
Finance Magnates’ Andrea Badiola Mateos moderating a panel on "What's Next for Liquidity Provider?"
Hustle and Bustle
The expo floor was the heart of the action. Imagine a vast space
teeming with over exhibitors from over 120 countries showcasing the latest and
greatest in trading platforms, payment solutions, and fintech innovations to
over 4,000 attendees. This was the place to geek out over live demos, ask
annoying questions, and score some swag – I stocked up on pens for the coming
year. It was like Comic-Con, but for finance nerds. Participants saw everything
from groundbreaking software to nifty compliance tools, all designed to give
them an edge in the ever-evolving financial landscape.
Networking
But it wasn’t all work and no play. Networking at iFX Expo was
where the magic happened. Picture this: sipping cocktails at a swanky evening
reception, chatting up potential clients and partners. Or relaxing in one of
the networking lounges, swapping war stories with fellow industry pros. These
were prime opportunities to forge valuable connections, strike deals, and
brainstorm the next big thing in fintech.
A Little Less Formal
As the day moved on the lines at the coffee stations got longer,
people had grazed away on the free food and snacks being offered by many firms
and a good number ended up outside in what is most easily described as a beer
garden. In the fierce heat of the day, it’s worth remembering that a beer is
acceptable when the line for the coffee bar is a mile long. Plus, people talk
over a beer.
For anyone in the financial services or fintech industry, the iFX
Expo represented a world of possibilities. It was the place to be to stay ahead
of the curve, learn from the best, and expand professional networks. Plus, all
this happened in the beautiful setting of Limassol, Cyprus. It wasn’t just
about business, it was about enjoying the ride and maybe even sneaking in a
little Mediterranean sun.
The Inside Track
If you’re interested in digging in to a little industry scuttlebutt
from the Expo about the payments sector and how it’s developing and expanding to
support the forex and crypto industries, click here.
If you missed the Cyprus edition, don’t worry, iFX Expo Asia arrives in Bangkok in
mid-September. Time to get packing. And, in the meantime, why not visit our Trending section for more

Paytiko CEO Razi Salih on Why Payment Orchestration is a MUST-HAVE for Brokers in 2026
At iFX Expo Dubai, Finance Magnates spoke with Razi Salih, CEO at Paytiko, about the evolution of the payments ecosystem and why payment orchestration has shifted from an option to a necessity for brokers, prop firms, and exchanges.
Mr. Salih explains how global expansion, the need for deep localisation, and the sheer number of new payment methods, from instant banking to stablecoins, are driving this critical infrastructure shift.

Altima CTO Sunil Jadhav: Solving Data Fragmentation & Lag for Brokers & Prop Firms
Altima CTO Sunil Jadhav: Solving Data Fragmentation & Lag for Brokers & Prop Firms
Altima CTO Sunil Jadhav sits down with Finance Magnates to discuss the core technology challenges facing CFD brokers and proprietary trading firms today.
Jadhav explains how the industry's reliance on batch processing and fragmented systems (where CRMs, risk tools, and trading platforms operate with separate 'sources of truth') leads to delayed data and inconsistent operational decisions. He argues that real-time event processing is essential for managing fast-moving trading activity and risk.
Learn how Altima's unified, event-driven architecture, connecting Altima CRM, Altima Prop, IB systems, and risk management through a single backbone, is designed to provide synchronous data and better operational coordination for modern brokerage and prop firm stacks.
Key Topics:
- Broker and Prop Firm Data Challenges
- The problem of delayed data processing (batch processing vs. real-time events)
- Fragmented systems and conflicting data sources
- Altima's unified, event-driven solution architecture
- The concept of a "risk-aware CRM"
- Built-in risk management in Altima Prop
