Crypto Daily, an online platform for Blockchain and cryptocurrency news, was proud to announce its participation in Singapore’s 2019 Run for Light event.

The event, which took place in January 2019, featured several running races with entrants paying to participate and money coming in from event sponsors.

Proceeds from Run for Light go towards the Guide Dogs Singapore charity to assist individuals who are partially sighted, blind or have other issues with vision and sight.

Run for Light 2019

The Run for Light 2019 event took place at Punggol Waterway at the Punggol Town Square on Saturday the 26th of January between 5pm and 10pm. The event comprised three races - a paired blindfold walk for 1km, a fun run over 5km and a competitive race over 10km.

Cash and gift prizes were awarded to the five best contestants in the male and female categories for the 10km showcase event, which was won by Nimesh Gurung for the men’s event and Hilda Stoney for the women’s, with finishing times of 32:32 and 42:36 respectively.

All contestants who completed the 10km run were given finishers’ medals.

Entry Criteria

As a fundraising event, Run for Light asks participants to pay an entrance fee upon registration. The fees in 2019 were $68 SGD per pair for the 1km blindfold walk, $38 per entrant for the 5km fun run and $45 per entrant for the 10km individual open.

There were also discounts available for multi-bookings, with three entries to the fun run charged at $108 and three entries to the 10km run charged at $128. The minimum age for entry for the fun run was 4 years and for the 10km it was 13 years, with parental permission a requirement for any entrants aged under 18 years.

Run for Light has been an annual event since the inaugural races in 2014. The event is held to raise awareness and funds to help those dealing with vision and sight issues including blindness, with proceeds donated to Singapore Guide Dogs.
