Spectrum Markets Reports 86% Growth in Q2 Trading Volumes

Spectrum Markets today released its Q2 of 2021 Quarterly Business Update and reported strong growth in trading volumes for the second quarter of 2021. According to the latest report, a total of 182 million securitized derivatives were traded on the Exchange during Q2 of 2021, which is 86% higher compared to the same period last year.

In Q2 of 2020, Spectrum Market saw trading of 98 million securitized derivatives on the exchange. Overall performance in the first half of 2021 was even stronger as the trading venue saw 146% year-on-year growth in trading volumes during H1 of 2021.

Headquartered in Germany, Spectrum Markets is a pan-European trading venue for securitized derivatives aimed at financial institutions and their retail investors. Spectrum Markets is regulated by BaFin.

Commenting on the recent numbers, Nicky Maan, CEO of Spectrum Markets, said: “Achieving strong and sustained organic growth continues to be one of our top priorities, so it’s great to see how far we’ve come since this time last year. Spectrum Markets has seen consistent growth in trading volumes since its launch amid a surge in demand for different financial products.

Trading Numbers

In the second quarter of 2021, Spectrum Markets saw a jump in trading activity across indices, foreign exchange (FX) pairs and commodities. “During Q2 2021, 34.2% of individual trades took place outside of traditional hours (i.e. between 17:30 and 9:00 CET). 85.1% of this activity was on indices, 8.9% on currency pairs and 6% on commodities, with the top three traded underlying markets being OMX 30 (28%), DAX 30 (23.6%) and S&P 500 (11.4%),” Spectrum Markets added in the press release.

The trading venue highlighted that the most traded underlying products during the latest quarter were OMX 30, DAX 30, and S&P 500. Spectrum Markets is the trading name of Spectrum MTF Operator GmbH.
