MetaQuotes has announced that its MetaTrader 5 platform has received certification as an authorized platform with the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX). The news follows earlier certification approval for the platform with the CME and Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) this year. Being certified by the ASX means brokers that connect with Exchange can now begin to offer the MT5 platform to their clients.

Commenting on MetaQuote’s public statement Renat Fatkhullin, CEO of MetaQuotes Software Corp said “we are constantly expanding MetaTrader 5 features. The platform is already integrated with leading ECNs and certified by ten world exchanges. The release of MetaTrader 5 Gateway to ASX is another step towards integration with the world’s most popular exchanges. We will announce the release of several more integration gateways in the near future."

It will be interesting to see what type of uptake MT5 finds among Australian brokers and equity traders. MetaQuotes does have a strong hold within the country’s FX industry, with MetaTrader 4 being the dominant platform offered by the largest brokers such as Go Markets, Pepperstone, IC Markets, and Vantage FX. However MetaTrader 5 is nearly non-existent among major brokers. Nonetheless, MetaQuotes could see demand for MT5 among equity brokers in part because of its EAs and signal trading offering, as Australian investors have shown to have an active interest in managed products.
